Question about scope
My wife got me a Simmons ProDiamond 4 X 22 scope for my .22 rifle. I just now noticed on the package that it's a shotgun scope. Is there any difference between a rifle scope and a shotgun scope? The only difference I saw was when looking thru the scope, I see a "diamond" around the crosshair. Is it OK to put this scope on my .22?
Biggest difference is the crosshairs are thicker.
It should work fine the Pro Diamond is a good scope.
I have a shot gun scope on my M1 carbine works fine
Thanx, I just added that I saw a "diamond" around the crosshair. I would have hated to get in that return line this week!
Joe it will work just fine
I would think that since it's made to handle the shotgun recoil, it would be even better on your rifle........... :D
No reason why NOT to use it on a 22 or any gun for that fact. add into the equation that Simmons is garranteed for life, I would use it. many put too much "dependence" on high dollar scopes and specific application scopes IMHO, when in fact a scope that cost 1/3 of teh high dollar scopes will last as long, do the same thing, and cost a lot less.
I would say that scope on a 22 will be a great combonation.
The scope on my favorite hunting rifle is currently a diamond plex shotgun scope. Put in on a few years ago when i damaged the scope that was on the rifle. Works great fast pick on sight picture, and have neck shot deer at 200 yards with it on.
Generally, shotgun scopes are paralaxed at 75yds. I have one on my Marlin 45-70 that has worked well for years.
What pearyw said is right on the money. At the distances you will be shooting the rifle that scope sounds perfect, so no real worries.
