Reloading 30/30
I was always told reloading 30/30 was a pain, is there a reason why??? Do I need a special crimp on the bullet because of use in a tubular magazine???

Are yours gonna be as good as the new Hornady?

They can be if we can get the Hornady bullets, are they available for reloading yet??

I checked the HORNADY SITE I don't think the leverloution bullets are available just the ammo.

DRAT!

I never had any problem loading them. They do need a crimp, but the die will do that.

As long as they are full length sized and the bullet is properly crimped, no problems at all. One quick note though, 30-30 brass tends to stretch more on firiing because the case is so tapered and because lever rifles are said to have a little more "give" in the action than a bolt gun. Rounds should be checked both inside and outside just ahead of the web for any signs of seperation.

I have always found the 30-30 easy to load. If it was me, I would be using cast bullets in Charlie's rifle for target practice to save the barrel and save the jacketed bullets for hunting.

The 30-30 brass is very soft, I had problems with the seating die crimping then, I bought the factory crimp die from Lee, no more problems
