Replacing Colt Challenger front sight
Some dummy filed down the front sight on a Colt Challenger that I have acquired. I have ordered a replacement from Numrich. It appears to be pressed into place.
My first thought was to chill the replacement sight and heat the barrel with a heat gun that I use for paint removal to expand slot and see if it would go in. Anyone have any ideas ?
that schematic looks like one from Numrich. It is not accurate. That is not the sight on a challenger. There is no base the sight is attached directly to the barrel
This one?
There Challengers and Woodsman Challenger and a lot of variations

22WRF
that is a Challenger. The Challenger was a low end Woodsman with mag release on heel of butt and fixed sights. It was made from 1951 to 1955 when the name was changed to Huntsman. My first pistol was a Challenger made in 1952. I bought it in 1953. This one I just got last year.
The schematic that Numrich shows is a Colt Match Target
Trapp55 says the sight is silver soldered in the slot. I can handle that.
Thanks
Bob
Yup!
Silver solder will do it.....
DANG !!!!
In addition to having the schematic for a Colt Match Target on the Colt Challenger page they must have the part numbers transposed also. They sent me a front sight for the Match Target. Now I got to go thru the hassle of getting it returned.

That is the way they are !!!!
I e-mailed them and told them the schematic was incorrect and that they sent me the wrong part. They replied that all the Woodsman series used the same parts( WRONG !!!!). Then they sent me the "correct" part number for a Challenger sight. It is the same part number that I originally used. I sent the incorrect part back and requested a refund since apparently they have no idea what the hell is going on. Got a notice today that I have been credited with refund. Going to build up and reshape the sight that I have with a torch.
or you could just let some else shot it that is a poor shot and they wouldn't notice it as much
Hey we could let BJ & Carla use it for a snake gun and they would all be safe :rolflmao:
