Need more info, takedowns??? Is the 308 a clip model or one with the rotary Mag? Tang safetys?
Like Tim said, more info is needed to arrive at a ball park figure.
I will say that there is little or no collectors value in either of them.
The 300 is D/T for a scope over the Savage name on the receiver. This alone detracts greatly from the price.
The 308 is likely a post mil rifle, which at this time, has no collectors value. It is however, a very desirable rifle.
Still the Savage 99 is the hot-*test*-('") selling rifle around today, so there will be a higher value than most!
Ive seen the 308's going for $450 and up at the shows, the 300 is older even the ones that are drilled and tapped for a scope in good shape are A$450 and up!!!
Depends on the area, they go for top dollar around here and in th e HArrisburg area, you can't go by the book valu on the 99's they are drawing more!!!
Both of them are worth much more than what you paid for them. You done very well!!!!
The 308 is more desirable as a hunting rifle.
Watch them on Gunbroker and see what they sell for, you will be amazed!!! Ask Charlie, one 308 went for $850 a while back on GB!!!
Here in Maine I would put either of these firearms on the rack, providing the wood is not split or cracked and the bores are excellent, for at least $595. RJSnow
I checked them out again and they are not the take down models. Both have the rotary mags. I forgot to check the safety. I am thinking of selling one of them to help with the purchase of an AR. Do you think $450 is a good starting price to ask for either one of them?
Yes, the market will set the final price........
