Savage Mark II FV 22 LR?
Do any of you have any experience with these 22 rifles? I have seen comments at various website on the accuracy of these. I went today and ordered one. I have been wanting something different for 50 yd sporter bench rest shooting. I have used my Kimber 82 Classic with a 6x Leupold AO compact scope with good results. I wanted something with a little more scope that didn't cost a fortune. I have ordered a Barska 6.5 to 20 50MM AO varmint scope that Sportsman's Guide has on sale. The Savage has a synthetic stock, accu-trigger, bull barrel, and is going to cost me $229 plus tax.
I had one and I loved it. Once you use the accu-trigger all other triggers pail in comparision

Typical Savage quality, kinda ugly on the outside, but a real tackdriver on the range.
Last month I bought one of the MKII Mako rifles that a distributor had a special on, the stock is kinda wierd, but the gun will shoot!

Thanks for the input. Ever thing I have read on these rifles talks about the accuracy of them. I was torn between a CZ and the MKII. MK II is cheaper, I didn't want a wood stock, and wanted a heavy barrel. I saw one of the older, standard trigger, light barrel versions at Wal-Mart yesterday for $114.99.
I finally got my scope yesterday and got it mounted on my new Savage MKII FV. I took it to the range today and was impressed by it. I got several 5 shot groups under a 1/2" even in a 10 to 15 mph wind. I don't know of another $229 22 rifle that will equal it with a $44.97 scope. I measured the trigger pull and it is right at 2 1/2" pounds as claimed. I was also impressed by the Barska scope. 1/8 moa click adjust, AO, and 50mm objective. I was able to shoot it at 20 power. At 8 power, it is as clear as any Leupold that I own.
The task now is to find out what ammo that rifle really likes by trying a few dozen types through it. Rimfires are notoriously picky about the accuracy they are capable of with various brands of ammo. Mine seems to like Lapua Midas at $15.99 a box!

I got my best groups with one of my favorite, Federal Champion Target 714. I can only find it at Dick's and I think it is out of production. I -*test*-('")ed Wolf target, CCI Standard velocity, Champion high speed, and Federal Gold Metal Match.
