Mine is a pre-model 27 made in 1955. Under the crane, with the cylinder open I read: 54405 then under that only on the frame itself is a lone 7. That is not the serial # of the gun and on the part that holds the cylinder on the front(is this the crane?) is stamped the 54405 but not the 7. Does this mean that there were 7 improvements to this gun? I did get a lot of info on the other site and that is how I know it is a 55 model. Just wonder what these other numbers mean. The gun is nickel plated 3.5" barrel. I have pictures stored in my computer I just don't know how to get them here. Any help?

Any help? the "7" is just an assembly number, doesn't mean anything except to the guy that put it together 52 years ago.
