Tell me about this WWII German 98
As you all know, the economy here in Michigan stinks so I have been digging through the closets and safes for stuff to sell to pay off a bill that is costing me $827 per mo. (only $9K to go) . So anyways I have this German 98 that I want to know about . Is it anything special or just another 98? The rec. ring is marked with a 42 and 1938. The sn on the rec., barrel ,front and rear sights and all bolt parts match. The # on the laminated stock is different. Floorplate/tg assm matches itself but is diff from the rec #. Buttplatt is marked brg /WaA 497. Stock has a 5 on the pistol grip. No import marks. Blue is pretty nice. Overall it looks like they were making them pretty nice in 1938 (I am assuming that the 1938 on the rec. is the date of manf.) I am trying to find a ballpark value if possible . I also have two cloth bandoliers of original WWII ammo on 5rd stripper clips all dated 41 and 42.Here are a bunch of pictures: _________________

Very nice example of the Mauser 98............ The Germans were serial number crazy and it should also appear inside the forearm of the stock and the butt stock under the butt plate. The barrel bands will be marked too. I would certainly agree with Bill on the value of your rifle!
