Weighing 22 rimfire ammo
Who out there has tried weighing your 22 lr target ammo to get better accuracy. I started doing this several weeks ago. I have been weighing Federal Champion high speed and target ammo. I have a digital scale that will read to .2 grains. I have found enough difference in my standard velocity to make 4 seperate groups. I have found that I am getting tighter groups by doing this. All it really takes is time and one of the big difference in ammo is quality control. That is one reason the better target ammo costs more.

I have heard of a few people doing that with 22's, It don't take but one heavy or light round to make a flyer that will ruin any group. I always weigh my carry ammo, I don't do it for accuracy, I do it in case someone at the factory forgets to put powder in. The last thing I want is a squib load when their are 2 or 3 angry thugs running at me. Dustin

I have weighed my 22 ammo. I think it does make a difference. Since I started using Federal Gold Match, I don"t need to do that.

Don't forget to get a RimFire Case Guage. Its will also allow you to sort your ammo by "rim" thickness.
