Weird Powder deterioration
My son went to use some AA 3100 powder that I had stored in my loading room with the other powders. It was bought about 1998 and stored with all my other powders. The AA3100 bottles were wet on the outside and the lids were discolored a yellowish tinge as were the plastic shelves they were sitting on. The powder itself was lightly clumped together but when I shook it slightly it loosened and looked normal. We are afraid to use any of it including the sealed bottles. Some of the other powders are much older than this with no deterioration. Anyone ever run into this ???
How did the moisture get thru the plastic bottles? None of the other powders sitting beside them are affected.
I have never had a problem like that and I have some powders that are 15 years old or older.

Never had problems like that either even down here with 100% humidity and 100 degree weather

I have been in contact with Accurate Arms.
here is the reply:
"It more clear now and certainly looks like the powders are in the process of decomposing.
Part of this process is the release of acids and that will permeate through seals and plastic.
You need to dispose of the powder immediately.
It will be of great help if you could provide the lot numbers and also take some pictures.
What was the storage conditions like?

I have sent pictures of the "wet" bottles and the one lot number that was legible.
Atleast it sounds like Accurate Arms has some good customer service.
