What type and why?
I'm looking for a holster for my M1911A1 but I have no way to do any 'hands on' experimenting to see which type of holster I want. I'm looking for something that can be used for CC, but not IWB or SOB. I like the look of a leather holster as opposed to nylon or molded plastic. Am I being too difficult in what I'm looking for? What do you use for your 1911 and why?

As long as you stick with one of the names well known you will be getting a quality holster. I would think the best bet for what you want would be a belt slide style holster. I ain't sure though weather you would want no retention, Which is what I prefer, And you can get single retention rigs that have tops straps, and buttons to push to get the gun out. I have 2 Wild Bill leather 1911 holsters. The main thing is to buy one that is a snug fit for the belt you want to wear. I have a Wild Bill 1 1/4" belt that I bought to fit both of my holsters. Most of the leather holsters you see are for 1 3/4" belts which is fine if you wear that size belt, but move around too much on 1 1/4" and 1 1/2".
