WTB......Cheap Flintlock
Looking to see if there is anything out there that I can afford.
Had a smoke stick offered to me a few days ago, cheap. But I don't remember if it was flint or cap. Will check it out.
Thanks, I appreciate that.
Sorry Ron: It is an inline.
Thanks anyway.
If you need some drywall done because of the water damage let me know.
Cheap and flintlock are 2 words that never fit in same sentence. been shooting flinters since late 70s, a decent flinter, by decent I mean one that works at all, will run you well over $300 if not $500.
Look at the auctions, that will tell you just how expensive a hobbie flinters are.
Sure looks like a shooter. What caliber is it? Penna. requires .44 or larger.

The proof mark indicates it is a 54 cal. That is one ugly POS.
Deals are out there, just have to watch. I started looking a few weeks ago, set my budget at $250. I cam across a couple CVA's in the $150 range(utiliatrian, not top quality, but serviceable), a Like new TC for $200ish(Top quality, but still pretty utilitarian, should have bought it too), and an Italian ZOLI .58" 1803 Harpers ferry Repro for $200 delivered(I bought it just because I had a box of balls here for it, They usually sell for $1000 or so making it the best deal, and It would look real nice on the wall if it was a lemon).
If you want the Phone # of the shop that had the TC PM me, It was real nice for the money. He might still have it, it was in Ohio, and the don't have the arcane Flintlock season like PA does. Flints are a hard sell there.
I sent you a PM Ron. best buy out there is teh Traditions line of Flinters at $200 and up. The $200 model is damn accurate and a hell of a buy. Now to me, a good flintlock costs at least 1K and that is bottom of the barrel. It has tpo be period correct, 1770-1785, and has tpo be hand made. Now as tpo factoruy guns, teh traditions and TCs are the best for teh money. Also do not over look teh Pendersolli PA long rifles at around $500 and under for used ones. CVA and JUKARs sell in teh $50 to no more than $100 range BUT you hjave to watch out for their frizzens, many ahve soft frizzens thus no spark.
JJ: Have you ever seen a Pendersoli kit? Some of their Pa. rifles look pretty good. Might give it a try to make one.
FK3320 Pedersoli Kentucky Rifle .32 Cal Flint Kit $395.00 at Dixie Gun
This Kentucky .32 caliber flint rifle kit is the same as the other Pedersoli Kentucky rifles with the exception that this is in kit form. Barrel is blued to prevent rust (not finished). Skill level 1. Made by Pedersoli/ Italy.
Have actually put some together Craig. Pendersolli guns are great guns but if needoing one to shoot NOW, I showed him one on AA that is DIRT cheap. A pendersolli 45 cal in 99% for under $300.
IF you ever want a good flinter Craig and want to build it yourself, that kit is an excellent one to begine with. Can be bought in 32,36, 45, 50, and I think 54 calibers. I ahve a 32 Percussion that I want to switch to flint, it is made to do so, and shooting the 32 is a JOY. my daughter has killed a many a deer with her 32 Hawkin. Here in KY we have no size limit on BP guns, in theory I could deer hunt with my 22 BP percussion 1880 "parlor" rifle.
I think the 32 or 36 would make a good target rifle. The kit would make me a good project for this winter. I never had a BP gun yet.
IF you buy one Craig, make sure the kit has an easy lebvel to put it togetehr. you get one that takes a lot of experience and there are some small inkletting that can be a pain in the azz. I will not do all my inletting now, I farm out all my inletting around the lock/trigger area to a buddy of mine.
the 32 is a joy to shoot. No kick, great as far as lots of shots per pound of powder and lead, ONLY down side is the foul up the barrel real quick being suck a small caliber. IF you want a real old gtime target caloiber, find you a 25 caliber. That was the target caliber of the 1800s.
