More of a collectors piece than a shooter. Made only 1970 and 1974.
Can you buy it it for less than $250?
I don't like the fact that you have to drive out the front sight to take it apart.
Just thinking 22WRF
I didn't know that peary thanks that is the kind of info I was looking for.
Short production time because it of it was know to be a jam-o-matic .
Heres a hint:
These were mfg in the time S&W was owned by Bangor Punta.
Not my favorite era for Smiths.
Baby Browning would be much higher on my need to have list.
I had heard that they were one of S&W's worst guns
I have a 61-2 and a 61-3. Mine shoot great with some ammo and jams with others. One thing I HATE is teh Alumium frame and the fact teh finish can be rubbed off with your finger nail. Great gun to play with IF shooting the ammo that does not jam, nice pocket piece, worth $250 IMHO at best, and something I would NOT really go out of my way to buy UNLESS they were a steal as to price. I have less than $200 each in my 2.
Ironicly they were made to compete with the likes of teh baby browning, tip up Berretta, and the Jennings; all hip pocket pictols. Said the best above, not one of S&Ws better products.
